Why do I make Jewelry?

Well, if you have ever stumbled upon the about page of my website, then you know how my passion started. I became, and still get very excited when it comes to jewelry crafting. I never knew or thought that I would have such a passion and joy in designing and completing something so beautiful from its inception. I find it therapeutic, but the best part is when the buyer and the specific jewelry find each other. To see the excitement and gratification, this is what really makes me smile- inside and out! To know and understand what energy I put into each and every piece, what the healing properties are and then when it gets to the intended person, it just brings me such joy. The best part is when a client affirms that by calling, emailing, or reaching out to me, letting me know how that specific piece that she bought was just what she needed that day…..I am filled with gratitude!

I often get asked about how I come up with my designs and concepts. Most of the time I just see a vision in my head or I just feet it and then I run with it. It sure helps too when I have a focal element, say a brooch, or something that I can take off of an old or broken unused piece. I can take that element and create a whole new life and new story while using portions of both that old piece as well as combining and adding to it to make it new! This can take a lot of modifying, or it may not go right the first time, but eventually you see it come together.

I enjoy always being on the hunt , even in my travels overseas, looking for components that I can create another piece with. One of the hardest things for me is when I have to wait. Sometimes I have a vision in my mind, and I know exactly what I want it to look like, but I may only have 2/3 of the parts or inventory to complete it. This has happened before when I have a great focal element, but also want specific pieces surrounding it to compliment it. I constantly am on the look out to add to my inventory, because you never know until that marriage of pieces is found, and those pieces come together.

I very much so enjoy not just the healing properties, but also that story and the sentimental value that is behind or within a specific piece. This is why it feels so very special when someone hands me a beautiful element that was maybe a part of their Grandmothers wedding dress, or pearls from her favorite necklace that she always wore. It is always humbling that people come to me with their family heirlooms and relics. They place their trust in me to take a treasured item, which I will then transform into an idea or vision that they have for it. If they don’t have a specific idea in mind, I’ll run with it and create something new for them, infused with these pieces. It always touches my heart when I see their reaction to the final piece.

I hope that this gives you a little insight on who I am, and what inspires me to do what I do. I thank you for your continued support and words of encouragement. I thank you for not hiding your excitement or facial expressions when you see a piece, touch it, and put it on for the first time.
I hope to be able to create something for you soon!
